Vancouver Startup Week 2018

As a startup, identifying your product market fit is probably one of the most important things you'll have to do. One of the greatest assets you’ve got to achieve this is Empathy, or in other words, the ability to put yourselves in your customer’s shoes. The foundation of empathetic design is observation and the goal is to identify latent customer needs in order to create products that people didn’t even know they wanted. This interactive evening will be an opportunity to bring together different perspectives around what it means to be a User Centered Startup and how this gets reflected in all aspects of your business ranging from Product Design to Product Management to Sales and Distribution.

UX Principles will provide you with a basic understanding of the UX Design process and overview of the essential skills UX designers draw upon. We'll discuss strategies like Design Thinking and Human-Centred Design when designing digital products. We’ll also touch upon how UX Designers work independently and with technical teammates. The workshop will close with a hands-on sketching exercise allowing you to apply your human-centred design knowledge. Please remember to bring a charged laptop to the workshop as outlet space is limited.

Tracking the right metrics is critical for any company, but for SaaS startups in particular there is an enormous amount of data that you can use to measure success and drive important decisions. In this workshop you will learn what kind of things you should be measuring in your startup, how to make data-driven decisions about your product or service, and some of the tools that can be used. This will be a hands-on workshop for technical and non-technical founders alike. Please be sure to bring a fully charged laptop in order to get the most out of it.
